Friends, the moment you have been waiting for has arrived!  My first giveaway!

4. You cannot make fun of my terrible picture taking skills.  A new camera is still seven months away... *sigh*

First, we have fabric (all are cottons):
Burgundy red with flowers: a few inches under four yards
Navy and tan plaid: A yard and a half
Floral: 2 feet

Lace!  Both cards could be yours...

I have no idea how much but there is quite a bit!

Close up.  Top is cream, bottom is white... both are lovely.

And finally, pink bias tape, periwinkle blanket binding and lime green seam binding.

If you want to win these lovely items, leave a comment and tell me the best gift you ever made for someone.

I love this book.  Seriously.  So many fabulous things that you can make with just little bits of fabric.

I made Mama G this buttercup yellow Folklore Bag, and it turned out so fabulous!  (Remember what I said about my picture taking skills...) I used some fabric that had been woven with ribbon.  I have kept this in my stash since working in the costume shop in college.  We cut this off of a dress that was being used in "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and I knew that I wanted to save it and make my Mom something pretty...

and I finally did.

Close up of the fabric and button closure.  I'm so pleased and I hope she likes it!

PS.  I reserve the right to throw other things into the package before sending if you win, your package may show up with extra things inside (ribbon, fabric, cookbooks, photo albums, etc).  Because I hate packing.  And we all like stuff :)

  1. Fantastic give away! I've looked at this book, but wasn't sure, but your bag is lovely. Answer to question : this xmas I made everyones presents, nobody got a shop bought present, althought I loved the vintage table mats given to my mum I was most proud of Stan the dog sewn by hand for Noah my baby nehews first xmas, it was a Kath Kiidston pattern, with ric rac all the way round!

  2. Awesome Giveaway! My favorite thing I made someone was after my grandad passed last year, we had our first christmas without him. When we cleaned out his house I wasn't sure why but I took all his funky looking tartan ties. For christmas I made them into flower rosettes one on a headband for my youngest cousin and two with pin backs for my mama and auntie. They all burst into tears when I told them what they were. It was a nice way of remembering him.

  3. Awesome giveaway!! I love to give handmade gifts all year round! My mom has this stash of fabric and every time I get an idea in my head, she has me go through the stash. I have not been in a fabric store in at least a year!! Thanks, Mom!!

  4. Wow, you're so lovely to giveaway this awesome prize!

I love giving handmade gifts. I think one of my favourites would have been the giant rabbit soft toy I made my boyfriend for his 30th birthday. (He said he didn't want anything, so he got a giant rabbit. That'll teach him for not giving me any help with the present hunting!)

  5. Fabulous giveaway! I seriously want the burgundy flower fabric!!! The best gift I ever made was placemats and napkins for my sister with the cutest ever cat print can check out pictures here:

  6. What an awesome giveaway.

Hmm, the best thing I have made and given away was a hot pink broadbrimmed hat with black decorations. Made it for my sister.

  7. Such a lovely lot of pretty things! The bag looks really good so hope she likes it!

The best gift I've ever made I only realised when I saw them in use, it was the patchwork blanket I made for my niece and the patchwork cushion I'd made for my sister that my niece was curled up on with the blanket wrapped round her sleeping soundly. It was such a cute image I wish I'd had my camera!

  8. Fun giveaway! I still feel self-conscious about my gifts, but I had fun making some madeleine bloomers for my cousins for Christmas this past year.

  9. That's a cute bag from One Yard Wonders! I've seen that book around but never ponied up the dough and bought it. One of these days...

Let's see, the best thing I ever made for someone was perhaps place mats and napkins for my best friend. Not because of the items (because they're not so exciting), but because one of the place mats curiously turned out much smaller than the other 3. I can't explain it! So I attached a note to that one and called it "Runt Mat". And that's how we refer to that one mat ever since.

Thanks for the neato giveaway! My email is sewinintherain[at]gmail[dot]com
